When it comes to the day-to-day comfort of your home, insulation has a significant
influence. Insulation helps to keep your home warm in
the winter and cool in the summer. Moreover, a properly
insulated home helps to lower your annual energy bills,
and helps conserve the earths natural resources.
Insulation does more than just control the temperature of your home. Insulation can help control the movement of moisture and water vapor that a family experiences on a daily basis. Everyday activities like cooking and cleaning are effected by your homes insulation. During the winter months, that water vapor moves from the warmer areas to the cooler areas. This process is known as condensation. Prolonged condensation can cause wood rot and or mildew and mold. Insulation is a great prevention tool for your home. Additionally, insulation absorbs sound and helps to make your home a quieter place to live. Insulation and ventilation work together to make your home comfortable. Ventilation works to dissipate unwanted attic moisture during the winter months, and works to eliminate hot air in the summer. Warm air rises, and that makes the placement of vents, in the soffits or low on the rooftop, especially important. Additionally, vents should be placed along side the ridge of the roof or in the gables to let warm air escape. It is necessary to always provide, minimum, two vent openings for proper air flow. We highly recommend that your unused attic space be well ventilated to insure that in the winter time heat doesn't leak out of the rooms below.
